YEREVAN. – An event entitled “Fridtjof Nansen and the Armenians,” and devoted to 150th birth anniversary of this great scientist and humanitarian, was held on Sunday at the Abovian Armenian Cultural Union of The Hague.
Armenia’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dzyunik Aghajanyan, delivered an address, during which she underscored Nansen’s activities as the first High Commissioner for Refugees, and his efforts toward relieving the sufferings of thousands of refugees and displaced, captives and the starving, MFA Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Remarks were also delivered by Norwegian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Anniken Ramberg Krutnes, and Armenian philosopher and journalist Hayko Yesayan, whose family had immigrated to Holland with the Nansen Passport.
Also, a short documentary film about Fridtjof Nansen was screened.
