YEREVAN. – This time Taron Margaryan responded to news reporters’ questions for the first time as Armenian capital Yerevan’s newly elected Mayor. And below is an excerpt from the questions and answers:

What will your personnel policy be?

We have a professional team, and all that remains is to motivate that team, so we can finish our programs.

Will the kiosks still be dismantled?

We have said on numerous occasions that we will dismantle the abandoned and the illegally-operating kiosks. We are not reflecting on the operating kiosks.

Will the Hrazdan Stadium problem comprise your future actions?

The Urban Development Council has an urban development plan, and public hearings must also be held, [and] only after which will a decision be considered.

[Former Mayor] Karen Karapetyan had announced he would work with a drive. Do you also have that drive to work for Yerevan?

By working in this system continuously for seven years, I work with inspiration and care. And I am confident we carry out these activities not only through me, but [through] the entire team.

You have worked with two mayors. What have you picked up from them? And which of their unfinished work will become a priority for you?

I have worked with three mayors. Our program work has been the program of our political team. And all those programs, which all mayors have implemented, have been the team’s programs.

Who will be the First Deputy Mayor?

Pursuant to the Law on Yerevan, he/she will be a member of the Council of Elders. We have not yet discussed that matter.
