YEREVAN. – Businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan is concerned that Governor Suren Khachatryan of Armenia’s Syunik Region could repeat his violent actions against her. Hambardzumyan herself told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am. And in her words, this is why she asked that a bodyguard be assigned to her.

Hambardzumyan also noted that Khachatryan has not threatened her ever since the incident that transpired in capital Yerevan’s Armenia Marriott Hotel, on November 14.

“I do not have a bodyguard yet, but I will have one on Monday. I asked for a bodyguard solely to be protected against Suren Khachatryan, since I do not need protection against anyone else. I have never battered a life,” Silva Hambardzumyan stated.

And in response to the observation that perhaps she was the first to “batter” Suren Kahachatryan, Hambardzumyan said: “No, the only matter here is those 102 million [drams] (US$ 264,740).”

To note, Armenia’s Special Investigation Service had launched a criminal case against Suren Kahachatryan, based on Silva Hambardzumyan’s written information that Khachatryan had struck blows at her at Armenia Marriott Hotel.

Also, the press had published, on November 10, Hambardzumyan’s statement that Suren Kahachatryan had stolen 102-million-drams worth of equipment from Lichvazk Tey Gold Mine.
