YEREVAN. – The foreign policy approach of most Armenian political parties resembles one another, and they characterize this as Armenia-centric, but this needs an explanation, analyst Ruben Mehrabyan stated, during a discussion convened in the capital Yerevan, on Friday, and added: “There is the impression that many of them are expecting news from either [Russian PM Vladimir] Putin, or Strasbourg.”

According to Mehrabyan, the Armenian political forces’ approach toward Karabakh and Armenian-Turkish normalization issues is not much different from one another.

In his turn, ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia MP Artak Zakaryan noted that the country’s foreign policy is geared toward peace, resolution of domestic problems, strengthening of bilateral and multilateral ties, and more consolidated organization of domestic security issues. “The most important matter is the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, from which derive security, [and] regional developments,” he noted.

As per Artak Zakaryan, the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is important for Armenia, not only for deblockage, but for European integration, too. “Armenia’s foreign policy is one of the best in the world,” he maintained.
