YEREVAN. – Armenian Parliamentary opposition Heritage Party’s Board responded to President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement that Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian’s letter addressed to him was not written out of concern, but it rather aimed to discredit the political processes.  

The Heritage Party’s response specifically reads:

“We are puzzled by Armenia’s incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan’s response to Raffi Hovannisian’s formal letter, and consider it [the response] to be a non-statesmanlike and a fragmentary attack against the person of Raffi Hovannisian and Armenia’s First FM, the Heritage [Party] and the entire opposition, in general, and the Armenian body politic and citizenry. Such demeanor and inequivalent evaluations are unbecoming of the country’s leader.”

To note, in his letter addressed to the President, Raffi Hovannisian had demanded that certain steps be taken to guarantee the holding of free and fair elections in Armenia.
