YEREVAN. – The December 2011 weather in Armenia is expected to be 1-3 degrees Celsius (°C) lower than the long-term average value. As a rule, December’s lowest temperature is recorded during the third ten-day period of the month, Ministry of Emergency Situations Press Service informed Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

To note, Armenia’s coldest Decembers were recorded in 1932, 1933, 1941, 1948, 1953, 1970, 1982, 1984, 1987, and 2002, when the average daily temperature had dropped to -14°C - -15°C, and the absolute lowest temperature was recorded in 2002, with -32°C. And Armenia’s warmest Decembers were recorded in 1938, 1940, 1966, 1980, 1981, 1998, and 2008, when the maximum temperature had reached 21°C - 22°C (capital Yerevan, Artashat, and Armavir) and 24°C - 26°C (Shnogh, Bagratashen, and Kapan).
