YEREVAN. - Armenian Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan received on Tuesday the newly-appointed UNICEF representative in Armenia Manja Henriette Ahrens.

Minister Ashotyan said he considers that the effective cooperation experience between the Ministry and UNICEF will form new directions for joint work for the benefit of the children in Armenia, the ministry informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We are attaching importance to new and intensive cooperation. In particular, it is the protection of children’s rights and establishment of firm and secure bases for their future.  Besides, priority for the Ministry is securing educational environment focuses on a child,” Ashotyan stated.

Ahrens stated that she fulfills her tasks delightedly in Armenia adding that education is a key sphere for UNICEF. The sides also discussed jointly implemented projects, in particular cooperation in the sphere of inclusive education.  

Armenia is the first in the region in that sphere, while new projects are also elaborated, the Minister said. Besides, the sides are ready to implement and discuss new programs as well.
