YEREVAN. – The intellects speak before every election, but afterward neither the people, nor the political parties listen to them, poet Razmik Davoyan stated, during a press conference on Saturday, adding that Armenia will one day hold transparent and fair elections. 

“We will conduct transparent and fair elections, but I do not know whether our choice would be the right one. This is the key issue,” Davoyan said, noting that by saying “right choice” he means that the government must be made up of the “right” persons who will think about the people.     

In his turn, the press conference’s other speaker, deputy director Vardan Devrikyan of the Institute of Literature, specified three options for the intellects’ position on the elections and their involvement in the sociopolitical life. “In the first case, the intellects could be a part of the lists of different political parties. In the second case, the intellect is a criterion, when he/she is not a member of any political party, but has a political stand and a societal portrait. And with the third option, we need to have a layer of intellects who are neutral,” Vardan Devrikyan maintained.
