YEREVAN. – The current situation in Armenia’s consumer market is a very far cry from being satisfactory, the “Protection of Consumers’ Rights” NGO Chairwoman Lusine Yagubyan stated during a press conference on Monday.  

In her words, the consumers still very often encounter bad quality products, expired foodstuff, and low quality and improper service.

In his turn, the NGO’s Vice Chairman Karen Chilingaryan noted that the complaints are increasing on a yearly basis, and each year more than 1,000 consumers are petitioning to the NGO. But these complaints are not submitted to the court, as of yet, and around 90 percent of them is resolved positively.    

Lusine Yagubyan stressed that the domain of protecting consumers’ rights needs radical changes in Armenia, and they must be carried out in the country’s legislative field.
