YEREVAN. – The Armenian Government’s new strategy of stimulating export is a revolutionary and a principled change in the economic policy, chairman Vazgen Safaryan of the Union of Domestic Goods Producers stated during a press conference on Wednesday.

In his words, Armenia’s economic policy in the previous years was based on the international Monetary Fund’s Washington consensus, which limited state intervention in economic processes.

And in response to the question as to how should the Government stimulate export, Safaryan said the Government needs to provide loans to the exporters and take measures to depreciate the Armenian Dram.

To note, during the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia’s recent economic forum, PM Tigran Sargsyan introduced the country’s industrial development strategy, according to which export enlargement programs will be developed in cooperation between the state and the private sector.
