YEREVAN. - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan spoke as nervous party leader, parliamentary opposition’s Heritage Party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian stated, during a press conference on Monday, reflecting on Sargsyan’s response to his open letter recently addressed to the President.

“His response had no grounds. This has a danger that Serzh Sargsyan’s statements made at the European People’s Party [EPP] meeting are merely cosmetic phrases, that they are expressed in Brussels, but are not applied in the Fatherland,” Hovannisian stressed.

And concerning the four Armenian political parties’ EPP membership bids, Heritage’s leader informed that none of these parties has yet become an EPP member.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, in his letter addressed to President Serzh Sargsyan, Raffi Hovannisian had demanded that certain steps be taken to guarantee the holding of free and fair elections in Armenia. And in response to this letter, the President had stated that the letter was not written out of concern, but it rather aimed to discredit the political processes.
