GYUMRI. – Over 162 underage has been subjected to physical violence in Armenia’s Shirak region last year, psychologist Armine Gmyur-Karapetyan said on Monday adding that the world registers about 80,000 cases of sexual violence annually, though the unofficial number is bigger.

Armenia’s Shirak region registered five cases of sexual violence against underage last year.

Earlier, for example, a boarding schoolgirl, 10, was raped by Vardan Ghazaryan, 26, in Gyumri city on December 5. Her parents turned to police and the perpetrator was arrested.

The girl continues her normal life by attending school, boarding school informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

However, according to the expert, the person subjected to violence becomes self-reserved, has difficulties in getting into contacts and displays an unusual aggression.
