ANKARA. – Turkish FM strictly responded to the adoption of the bill by the French National Assembly, insisting that France returned to the Middle Ages.

Speaking during a conference attended by Turkish diplomats, Davutoglu compared the decision with the Middle East dictators, Turkish Sabah newspaper reports. He stressed France is acting just like dictators who are compelling their will to the citizens.

“We will raise our voice against injustice and will not bow down,” Davutoglu said.

France’s National Assembly passed on Thursday the bill criminalizing the Armenian Genocide denial. The law supposes a year in jail or 45,000 euro punishment for those who will challenge or extremely minimize the fact of the 1915 Armenian Genocide officially recognized by France on January 29, 2001.

Earlier Turkish PM Recep Tyyip Erdogan stated that Turkey will impose sanctions on France.
