YEREVAN. - John Prescott, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Co-Rapporteur on Armenia, will visit the National Assembly (NA), on Monday at noon, NA Public Relations Department Chief Gohar Poghosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
She also confirmed the information that Axel Fischer, PACE’s other Co-Rapporteur on Armenia, will not arrive in the country because of health reasons.
Poghosyan noted that at NA John Prescott will meet with the members of Armenia’s delegation at PACE, and, after the lunch break, he will have meetings with NA’s five factions. And on Tuesday, Prescott is scheduled to meet with NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan.
As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Axel Fischer, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Co-Rapporteur on Armenia, will not arrive in the country, for health reasons. And solely Co-Rapporteur John Prescott will come to capital Yerevan, on Monday, on a fact-finding mission, Armenian News-NEWS.am’s reliable sources informed. During the visit, Prescott will meet with the country’s senior officials, members of OSCE delegation in Armenia, and with representatives of the country’s political parties, justice system, and NGOs. According to PACE’s official website, the discussions will primarily focus on the implementation of the requirements stipulated by Resolution 1837, which PACE adopted in the year past, the preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia, and the priority domains of the monitoring procedure.
