YEREVAN. – During the Armenian Government’s session on Thursday, PM Tigran Sargsyan instructed Energy and Natural Resources Minister Armen Movsisyan to meet with opposition Heritage Party’s Parliamentary Faction and to discuss the problem concerning Kajaran village. The Faction’s letter to the Government was the basis for this instruction.

And after the governmental session, Heritage MP Anahit Bakhshyan told news reporters that she is pleasantly surprised by this instruction which PM handed down.

To note, the Government had decided that the land within the administrative borders of five villages in Syunik Region were declared eminent domain for the purpose of selling it to the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Plant. The residents of these villages and the environmentalists are against this decision, and Kajaran village prefect Rafik Atayan had presented his resignation in connection with this development.
