YEREVAN. – During the Armenian National Assembly’s (NA) next four-day session, which commenced on Monday, NA Speaker Samvel Nikoyan promised not to tolerate those MPs who vote in lieu of their absent colleagues.

At the beginning of the session, opposition Heritage Party MP Anahit Bakhshyan read aloud Section 61 of NA Regulations, pursuant to which an MP can vote solely for his/her own behalf, and she called upon Nikoyan to manifest intolerance in this matter.     

“I will be intolerant; all of you vote on your behalf!”, Nikoyan responded.

To note, the Special Investigation Service has launched a probe into the ruling coalition Republican Party of Armenia’s several MPs who had voted in place of other fellow party MPs.
