Islamist militants attacked the Libyan oil port Ra's Lanuf on Saturday controlled by country's army led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, army representative Ahmed al-Mismari told AFP.

The main oil terminals of Libya were released from Islamists in 2016 by Haftar's forces. Haftar doesn't recognize the government of the country in Tripoli which cooperates with groups of Islamists.

As it was noted, the new attack on Ra's Lanuf was undertaken by fighters of Benghazi Defense Brigade (BDB) on Saturday, RIA Novosti reported.
