YEREVAN. – Kotayk governor Kovalenko Shahgaldyan and his son, mayor Hakob Shahgaldyan of Charentsavan town in Armenia’s Kotayk region, were not saying everywhere that it was the Charentsavan City Hall that had renovated the motorway, leading to the cemetery of Charentsavan, which was actually asphalted by the means provided by businessman MP and chairman of Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan’s charitable foundation, Kovalenko Shahgaldyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“What is the point in distorting the truth, in deceiving, or presenting something else? We have very warm and friendly relations with Gagik Tsarukyan,” Kotayk’s governor stated. In his words, the motorway leading to the cemetery was asphalted by the means provided by Tsarukyan’s charitable foundation, “and no one has ascribed that to another organization, or person.”
And in response to the inquiry as to why this road was not renovated by the City Hall, Kovalenko Shahgaldyan noted that the City Hall did not have the necessary means plus the Gagik Tsarukyan Charitable Foundation wished to renovate it.
Information was disseminated in the press, on Thursday, according to which Gagik Tsarukyan had spent 10 million drams ($26,700 US) to renovate the motorway leading to the cemetery of Charentsavan. But Kotayk governor Kovalenko Shahgaldyan and his mayor son were saying everywhere that it was Cherantsavan’s mayor Hakob Shahgaldyan who had renovated the street by means of City Hall’s funds. Tsarukyan’s press secretary Khachik Galstyan, however, had confirmed that the street was renovated by the means provided by Gagik Tsarukyan’s charitable foundation.
