More than 1,500 weapons have been found and confiscated in Tehran during the recent unrest, Hassan Hasanzadeh, commander of Tehran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said, Fars news agency reported.

More than 1,500 cold and firearms and items to deface public places and property were found and confiscated during the unrest throughout Tehran. This volume indicates that a number of individuals, with a predetermined plan, intended to create unrest in Tehran. Many of these individuals have been detained, the operation to detain others continues, said Hassanzadeh.

According to the commander, the detainees include people with dual nationality, as well as those associated with foreign intelligence, the Organization of the Mujahideen of the Iranian people, monarchists and other groups that oppose the Islamic Republic.

The country has been in turmoil for a month and a half now, which began in mid-September with the death of a young Iranian woman, Mahsa Amini, after she was detained by the vice squad. Protests and riots take place mainly in the provinces of Gilan, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchistan, Tehran and Kurdistan.
