Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication of Turkey, Ahmet Arslan, wore a winter jacket with a British flag during an event devoted to the Turkish soldiers that died at the Battle of Sarıkamış, which took place from December 1914 to January 1915.
The commemorative event was held in Sarıkamış district of Kars Province, and it also brought together a large number of high-ranking military officers and senior government officials, according to Cumhuriyet daily of Turkey.
Following this commemorative event, however, the photos of Arslan wearing the aforesaid winter jacket caused uproar in the media and social networks.
Numerous Turkish Internet users criticized the minister for wearing a jacket with the flag of Great Britain, which was Turkey’s enemy during World War I and the Battle of Sarıkamış.
