The European Parliament (EP) on Wednesday lifted the immunity of the current president of National Front, Marine Le Pen at the request of French prosecutors, RIA Novosti reported.

The Paris prosecutor's office launched an investigation in relation to Le Pen earlier as her employees are suspected of illegally registering themselves as assistants to the politician in EP.

The majority of deputies voted for this decision at the plenary session of assembly in Strasbourg.

The EP also decided to lift the immunity of Le Pen's father and mother, far-right National Front founder Jean-Marie Le Penn for discrimination, racism, inciting racial hatred.

Thus, the European Parliament approved the request of French law enforcers, which intend to bring the 88-year-old politician to trial on a charge of inciting racial hatred.
