North Korea has fired an intermediate range missile, which appeared to have landed in the Japanese exclusive economic zone (EEZ), Reuters reported quoting U.S. officials.

The land-based missile was fired from near Panghyon airfield, and flew for 37 minutes before landing in the Sea of Japan, said the US Pacific Command. 

South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who convened a national security council meeting, said the missile was believed to be an intermediate range type, but the military was also looking at the possibility it was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
