EU Commission head Jean-Claude Juncker described president of the European parliament Antonio Tajani as “totally ridiculous” during a spat at Tuesday's plenary session of the European Parliament.

Juncker was dissatisfied with the number of parliamentarians present during the plenary session.

He insisted that “parliament is not serious: for failing to show up in large numbers for the keynote debate of the day, AP reported.

Tajani for his turn asked for more respective attitude. He said: “The Commission does not control the parliament. It is the parliament that should be controlling the Commission.”

“There are only a few members in the parliament to control the Commission. You are ridiculous,” Juncker replied.
