Chile plans to open an embassy in Palestine, which could make the Andean country one of the few with an embassy-level office in territories disputed with Israel.
Chilean Foreign Minister Antonia Urrejola confirmed the plan but said there is no specific timeline yet, and Chile continues to recognize both Palestine and Israel as legitimate states, Reuters reported.
A spokesman for the Israeli embassy in Chile said he would not make a public statement on the matter.
