In the first half of 2009, birth rate in Nagorno-Karabakh is 1306 children, which exceeds for 16% (180 children) the figure of the same period last year.

47,5% infants were born in towns and big villages, NKR National Statistical Centre informs. Compared to the same period in 2008, the number of the newborn children increased in almost all villages and settlements of Armenia, particularly in Hadrut region, that makes 46,5%.

At that, compared to rate in the same period of 2008, the death rate has decreased for 11,5% (634 people), while the population upsurge is 63,9% (672 people).

In addition, mechanical population increase compared to the same period last year comprises 223 persons.
