A group that studies effects of greening of Earth is comprised of scientists from 8 countries. They studied data received from three satellites from 1982 to 2009 . In particular, the experts analyzed the volume of solar radiation that plants reflected during the experiment, reports Informing.

The scientists found out that over the past thirty years the number of plants on the planet has significantly increased. In addition, they note that the crown of trees became thicker. The area of all the leaves on the planet, increased to twice as much as the area of the United States . Reduction of vegetation is registered only in Alaska, Argentina, and Mongolia by about 4 % , and this is due to deforestation . Today the plants occupy about 32 % of the Earth , and cover 85 % of the land .

Scientists have conducted a computer simulation which showed that during the experiment time the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has risen from 340 to 390 in parts per million . The increase of concentration of the carbon dioxide provoke further growth of the biomass.

According to the scientists , the further process of greening of the planet may lead to substantial climate change. The amount of green plants in tundra , deserts, and semi-deserts gradually increases . When the vegetation expands, the Earth's land absorbs more sunlight, which leads to an increase of temperature . After all, plants do not have such a high reflectivity as snow or sand.

The scientists note that the plants cannot absorb carbon dioxide that is created as a result of human activity completely. Today the green cover recycles several billion tons of carbon. But if the volume of vegetation continues to increase, there will be an issue of micronutrient deficiencies that stop the growth of the green cover of the planet and may even provoke to its reduction . Again global warming will take place faster, which is  fraught with climate change and environmental disasters.

According to the experts , it is important to maintain a balance , avoid excesses in one direction or another . Otherwise , the global sea level could rise by 64 meters , as a result of which a significant part of the Volga region and Siberia will appear under the water.
