Azerbaijan plans to purchase T-129 helicopter gunships from Turkey. The prototypes carried out test flights in Milan this September. Te helicopters will be co-produced by Turkey's Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and AgustaWestland (Italy). In 2007, the companies put in a tender for the production of 51 helicopters (with 40 additional helicopters for the Turkiush armed forces) in 2007 and won.

The helicopters will be equipped with electronics and weapons produced in Turkey. The leading Turkish company, ASELAN, will develop the flight computer and weapons for the helicopters.

Turkey will sell the helicopters to the Third World nations, including Azerbaijan. Pakistan, Malaysia and Jordan are among prospective clients as well.
