“Mark my words — Russia will collapse if does not normalize its relations with Caucasian countries, and Georgia – in particular,” Former President of Georgia Eduard Shevardnadze exclusively told “Abkhazian Meridian” Russian monthly, published in Tbilisi.
Asked, whether the Russian Federation would exist up to 2030 as it is, Shevardnadze, 81, said: “This is rather problematic. When I was a USSR Foreign Relations Minister, I could not share my thoughts with anybody, but even then the problem of collapse of the USSR was urgent.”
“I used to think then: all great empires collapse, and the USSR is not an exception. Although, I deemed it will happen in 12-years’ time, but I miscounted the timeframe,” Shevardnadze stated.
